Compared with austenitic stainless steels, the disadvantages of duplex stainless steels are as follows:
(1) The generality and versatility of the application are inferior to those of austenitic stainless steels. For example, the use temperature must be controlled below 250 degrees Celsius.
(2) Its plastic toughness is lower than that of austenitic stainless steel. Cold and hot processing technology and forming performance are inferior to austenitic stainless steel.
(3) In the mid-temperature brittle zone, strict control of the heat treatment and welding process system is required to avoid the appearance of harmful phases and impair performance.
